A continuing care retirement community (CCRC) offers a maintenance-free lifestyle in a residential setting with a variety of provided services, all conveniently located on-site. Community amenities typically consist of numerous social activities, dining options, maintenance and housekeeping services and access to continuing care (personal care, memory care, skilled nursing and rehab) as residents’ needs require.
Yes. The Meadows at Shannondell, where all of these health care and personal services are housed, is located a short walk from the independent living residences at Shannondell. So, should one of your parents require a short- or longer term stay at The Meadows, your other parent can continue to live in their nearby residence, yet remain close-by. Maintaining a separate living center for residents of The Meadows provides the utmost in privacy, including private rooms and baths and comfortable residential style common living areas.
Residents pay a one-time refundable entrance fee that provides lifetime use of their residence. But residents do not own the residence. The entrance fee is refundable to the resident or the estate as outlined in the Residence and Care Agreement.
Your parents’ pay an affordable monthly service fee that includes most meals and utilities, housekeeping and grounds keeping, scheduled transportation, on-site educational and cultural events, concierge service, room service, a debit system for on-site purchases, daily check-in system, 24/7 security, emergency response system and more.
Yes. As a value-added service to new residents, our resident real estate manager will work with your parents’ real estate agent to ensure their home is marketed optimally. Additionally, we offer interior space planning and on the day of their move – unpacking services. So, from their first day at Shannondell, your parents can completely relax in their new home. And, as their child, you aren’t faced with handling these tiresome tasks.
We love pets at Shannondell. Of course, there are size and weight restrictions, but most residents’ pets fall well within these limitations. We offer ample grounds, including an adjacent horse farm, to walk pets and even a dog run where residents can unleash their pets and let them run free with other well behaved canines and felines.
Your parents are welcome to customize their home to reflect individual style and tastes. A professional interior designer is available through Shannondell, or they can choose to work with their own. For more involved interior renovations, design plans and construction are subject to approval.
Absolutely. Both adult children and grandchildren are a common and welcome sight at Shannondell. Grandchildren, in particular, love our aquatics center and model train room. You’re always free to join your parents for meals, concerts and musicals in our performing arts theater, or challenge them to bocce, table tennis, billiards, or any of the other, many activities your parents will enjoy at Shannondell. And if you’re visiting from out of town, Shannondell offers on-site guest rooms your family may reserve.
Two renowned regional health systems – Main Line Health and Einstein Healthcare Network – have offices within Shannondell, one located within each clubhouse. Both on-site medical practices offer board-certified physicians and licensed staff specializing in the health care needs of senior adults. For your parent’s convenience, Shannondell also offers an on-site pharmacy with delivery to their residence.
The Club at Shannondell is a sister facility, just down the road from Shannondell, and is open not only to Shannondell residents but also the local Audubon community. Our residents who play golf find the green fees extremely reasonable. And annual swim memberships are also very reasonably priced, In fact, many Shannondell residents become Swim Club members simply to be able to take their grandkids to the pool in the summer months. Meanwhile, you can grab a meal on the patio of Chadwick’s Restaurant & Bar, also located within The Club, or enjoy a round a golf, knowing your kids are having a blast with their grandparents.
