b'Shirley Temple Black:Child Star to Diplomat By JoAnn PetersonApr. 23, 2 p.m.(Ashcroft movie theater) In this engaging first-person portrayal, film and stage actress JoAnn Peterson not only becomes Shirley Temple Black, but wears jewelry and clothing that belonged to her. As a child star, Shirley Temple was the top box office draw from 1935-1938. She grew up to become a diplomat, an author, and a loving mother. Ms. Petersons tribute begins with a monologue, in character, based on extensive research of the star and diplomats life gathered from primary sources, article, books, films and interviews. This is followed by a Q&A with Shirley, then a Q&A with JoAnn after she breaks character. As an actor, JoAnn starred in the title role of Astrid, in A Promise to Astrid. She was also filmed as Mercy Otis Warren, for the PBS mini-series, The American Constitution. Bill Robinson and Shirley Temple on Stairs in The Little Colonel | Public Domain 47'
